Sponsor and CRA interactions: what they expect, what they inspect, and how to manage the relationship at scale
Addresses the RC's portfolio-level relationship with sponsors and CRAs: standardizing monitoring visit management and analyzing cross-study patterns
The relationship you manage at volume
The two preceding lessons addressed stakeholders who share your site: the principal investigator whose authority you support, and the clinical research coordinators whose execution you direct. This lesson turns outward -- to the sponsors who fund the research and the clinical research associates who arrive at your door to verify that you are conducting it correctly. And the operative challenge is not managing a single sponsor relationship well. It is managing 12 or 18 or 25 sponsor relationships simultaneously, each with its own monitoring plan, its own expectations for documentation format, and its own opinions about what constitutes a finding.
