Understanding query types: automated edit checks, manual monitor queries, and medical queries
Differentiate three query types, identify triggers and response pathways, read query content effectively, and interpret query metrics as quality indicators.
Fourteen queries, three different species
You log into the EDC system on a Monday morning and see 14 open queries. The number itself is unremarkable -- you have seen worse -- but a closer look reveals that these are not 14 versions of the same thing. Four were generated by the system overnight, triggered by programmed validation rules you never saw fire. Six arrived from a clinical research associate who conducted a remote data review last Friday. And four carry a distinct label you have not encountered before: "Medical Query -- Requires Investigator Review."
